Nothing crashed, nothing died, and nothing broke. There were no attacks and nobody was banned. It was a nice quiet week. Unless you happened to be the global message boards. It was continuously poked, prodded, tweaked, and patched for our own twisted needs. It will get a couple more tweaks this weekend and then it should be done for awhile. Five sites are now using them and four more will be switching shortly. If you want to join the fun, drop me a line. Upcoming FTP outage. Information like this is nice to know beforehand. Tomorrow evening (about 20 hours after this mailing), I will be adjusting the directory structure on the FTP server. FTP access will be down for 1-2 hours. No other services will be affected. Dead link update. Overall, I was impressed. Although one site packed over 400 dead links, many sites were clean. I'll put together a second round next week. A NewsUpdate tip. I promised a couple tricks for NewsUpdate and here's one of them. Each template must have a unique name, but templates can output to the same file. This was done to support sites like Dextrose (http://www.dextrose.com) where news and downloads have slightly different formats, but show up in the same page. Upcoming CGI projects? The list is getting a little short. Do you have ideas for CGI programs you'd like to see? Well, I guess that's it for this week. Until next time -- Brian
