The Web Update file manager, is a POWERFUL tool, not to be used in a
careless manner. Everything you do in it, is done instantly, and
currently does not ask the typical 'are you sure' questions before you do
something. So, please be sure you know what you are doing BEFORE you
click any buttons or links.
The items here, will be listed in
order from top to bottom, as to what they are, and what they do.
This lists the majority of features that this interface can do, although
we do plan more in the future. If you wish to try anything other than
what is listed here, you do so at your own risk. This is still in BETA
stages, so please be careful.
Accessing
To access webupdate, go to http://ftp.yourdomain.com/webupdate/login.html
If you have .emu2k.com or a .emulationworld.com address or a
.ztnet.com address, you would use ftp. in front of those. Be SURE to
include the http, as some browsers will try to connect incorrectly.
The login name and password, is the same as your FTP login and
password.
Path
The path to the current files listed. Use this starting path, for the
root of all copy/move commands.
File name, Last update, Size,
Delete, Rmdir, Restore
File name - name of file or directory
Last Update - The last time the file was updated
Size - Size of the file
Delete - Will DELETE the file that it is lined up with (EVEN IF THE BOX ISN' CHECKED!)
rmdir - Will remove only an EMPTY directory
restore - We keep many backups, every 2 hours, and nightly for 7 days.
Each time you click this button, it will restore the most recent backup to
your file, up to 8 days old. Be advised, that once you hit restore, the
current file will be overwritten, and NO backup of the current file is
made, so be sure you want to do this!
Rename/Move selection
This takes whatever file selected, and renames it to what you type in
the destination field. This will also move a file to a specified folder
that you list in the destination field. Lastly, if you select multiple
files, it will move all of them to a folder that you list in the
destination field
Copy Selection
This will copy a single specified file to another filename, in the
same directory (if only a filename is listed in the destination field) or
to an alternate directory (if a folder is listed in the destination field)
Create New File
This command is not yet implemented.
Create New Directory
Will create a directory that you list in the field, within the current
directory you are in.
